Hammers hot pursuit has been achieved.

Sanusi, 26, is a Porto left-back who has been a player on West Ham’s radar for some time.

According to Dean Jones, the Hammers have been looking to bring in a left-back in January and Sanusi has been one of the players they’ve been keeping an eye on.

Jones, a Eurosport journalist, told GiveMeSport that West Ham will “spend a lot of money on left-backs” this January, but Sanusi, a Nigerian international, is a player they’ve been tracking for some time.

“I’m sure they’ll be looking to add a few more defensive players in the window,” he said. “They’re looking to step up their game for the rest of the season.”

Sanusi has certainly been on their radar, Jones said. “We know that signing a left-back has been something West Ham have been looking into for a while, so I’m sure they’ll be looking to add a few defensive players, though I’m not sure at this stage what kind of spending they’ll be willing to do.”

Jones added that West Ham will continue to search for a left-back, as they usually do, and Sanusi has been one of the players they’ve been keeping an eye on.

West Ham have long been linked with a new left-sided defensive player to add depth to their squad.

The future of Aaron Cresswell at the club is still in doubt after he requested a transfer during the summer, after he was dropped from the starting line-up for the majority of the campaign.

As a result, it would come as no surprise if the Hammers look to bring in someone to challenge Emerson to replace Cresswell as their first choice left-back.

Nigerian Sanusi could be a good replacement for the 30-year-old, who is expected to slow down in the next few years as manager David Moyes looks to bolster his team ahead of the end of the season.
