Winning the NFC North is no longer an easy task for the Lions.
The Lions’ path to the NFC North title is now more difficult, as the Vikings (5-4) have won four out of the last five games and five out of the last six to climb to the top of the NFC North standings.
After leading the Vikings (4-6) to a stunning 31-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, quarterback Josh Dobbs welcomed the media to Minnesota.
“Hey everyone, it’s my pleasure to be here in Minnesota, and I’d like to introduce myself to you all,” Dobbs said after the game. “It was a great game, a great team effort, and I know the circumstances I was in were a little unusual for a Sunday afternoon in the NFL.
Dobbs used his agility and elusiveness to help the Vikings to a come-from-behind win. The journeyman quarterback finished with 20 of 30 completions for 286 yards and two touchdowns, as well as 66 rushing yards and a score.
He has the athletic ability to make plays with his legs, and even though I gave him a lot of bad plays today, he made them. That’s something we knew when we brought him in that was one of his strengths, along with his leadership, his character, his intelligence and his toughness. It takes a lot of mental toughness to do what he just did today.
Currently, Detroit holds a 1.5 game lead over their division rival.
To end the season, Detroit plays Minnesota twice in the final three weeks of the regular season.
Following the Seahawks loss to the Ravens, Detroit holds on to a one-game lead of the No. 2 overall seed in the NFC.
The Eagles win against the Cowboys keeps them 1.5 games in the lead of the top seed in the playoff standings.
