Nottingham Forest’s’selfish’ goalkeeper goes berserk in’selfish’ tackle

In today’s Nottingham Forest news, we bring you live updates from Nottinghamshire as Reds keeper Matt Turner reacts to the latest USA international

Matt Turner was filmed storming onto the field after being sent off for a second yellow card in a row with his former club Arsenal.

During the international break, the 24-year-old American was sent off for the second time in as many games.

Having joined Forest from Arsenal in the summer, Turner was initially expected to be the club’s number one keeper. He started Forest’s first ten Premier League games.

However, he was substituted for Forest’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on the 5th of November in favour of new signing Odysseas Vasilakis. The Greek shot-stopper also featured in Forest’s 3-2 loss at West Ham last week.

Although he hasn’t featured for Forest recently, Turner has featured for his country throughout the international break, most recently on Monday in the USA’s 2-1 defeat in the second leg of the quarter-final of the ConcacAF Nations League against Trinidad & Tobago.

In the 25th minutes, Dest was cautioned for a second yellow card in the Port of Spain match after he continued to abuse referee Walter Lopez. He kicked the ball away and was then given a second yellow card for shouting and blowing kisses at Lopez.

The sending off of Dest sparked an angry response from his team-mates, including defender Turner, who was seen screaming at him as he left the field.

He later posted on social media to apologize to his teammates, staff, fans and the “whole nation” for his “unacceptable, selfish and immature” behaviour.“I apologize to my teammates, staff and fans for my behaviour,” he wrote on Instagram. “I failed my team and it is something I need to learn from. I won’t do it again.”
