Monchi has previously been linked with a move to Aston Villa and has been described as an “undervalued” player by the club.

Under the leadership of Emery, Villa are becoming increasingly ambitious on the transfer market.

Aston Villa are looking to make their latest ambitious move in the transfer market, with Unai Emery looking to bolster his team for a bid to qualify for the Champions League, a report says.

The Villans have been one of the best-travelled teams in the Premier League this season, scoring 29 goals to only be beaten by Manchester City. With 12 games gone, they have 25 points from 36 games and will hope to continue their good form on Sunday when they host Tottenham Hotspur in N17.

As Aston Villa head into the January transfer window, they will be looking to strengthen their squad in key areas following the summer arrivals of Nolito Zaniolo,Moussa Diaby,Clement Lenglet, youri tielemans & Pau Torres.

According to reports, Arsenal manager Unai Emery is keen to bring in a new final third threat in January.

Athletic Club striker Inaki Williams is now thought to be a target for Villa as they look to add more goalscoring power to their squad.

Aston Villa will also be looking to make further additions to their squad in January, but The Evening Standard report that Arsenal are keen to keep Brazilian playmaker Douglas Luiz as they look to make up for the absence of Thomas Partey.

Luiz is expected to join Egypt at the end of the season and join up with the squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Instead, Emery may now be looking to bolster his engine room by bringing in another player, a report says.

Bryan Cristante: Aston Villa keen on Italian international

TV Play reports that Aston Villa are among the clubs interested in signing Italian international Bryan Cristante. If a bid of over €30 million is made, Aston Villa could be in a strong position to sign Cristante.

The Italian international is being courted by Tottenham Hotspur, as well as West Ham United.

The Villans may have an edge in negotiations, as President of football operations Monchi was instrumental in bringing Cristante to Rome in 2019.

Cristante caught Emery’s eye and has since established himself as one of Rome’s most important players, scoring 13 goals and assisting 16 in 244 games for the Giallorossi (Stats via Transfermarkt)

Roma director Pinto has described Cristante as “undervalued”, and the Spaniard has made an impact this season, making an average of 8 tackles and 8 clearances per game in Italy’s top-tier competition (Stats via WhoScored)

Cristante could potentially add some bite to Aston Villa’s already well-stocked midfield as they look to move up the table in the coming months.
