Luke Getsy is seeking to resume the work of Justin Fields.

Bears quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will make his first start in five weeks on Sunday against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, but quarterback coach Mike Getsy is optimistic that rust will not be a major issue. “Based on how practice went, I think we’ll be good to go,” Getsy said.

Bears quarterback Justin Fields will be playing for the first time in five weeks when he starts against the Lions on Sunday at Ford Field. It’s the longest he’s ever gone between live-game snaps in his three-year NFL career.

But offensive coordinator Luke Getsy isn’t concerned about the rust factor. There’s nothing he’ll have to do to get Fields quickly acclimated to live-speed NFL snaps.

“You’re relying on all the work that you put in since two years ago,” Getsy said. “He’s been close to playing [the last two weeks], so it’s not like he hasn’t done absolutely anything in the last couple of weeks.

The Bears’ pass rush has been bolstered by the addition of Dezmonte Sweat, providing them with immediate assistance and optimism for the future. Additionally, Justin is back and David Montgomery is ready to take on his former team, the’real deal’ Lions. On the injury report, running back Khalil Herbert is a full participant. Finally, the Bears’ returner, Velus Jones, is expected to play in Week 11 against the Lions and his goal is to continue his development.
