‘Outstanding’… Gabby Agbonlahor says Aston Villa now have a player who is better than England duo

Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa is better than England internationals Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi.

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit lauded the Villa Park centre-back after news broke this week that Konsa had been called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the first time.

The former Brentford star has been outstanding for Villa this season and has flourished under Unai Emery, with Konsa now being rewarded for his rich form with an England call-up.

And Agbonlahor now thinks that Konsa is better than the likes of Tomori and Guehi, who have been regulars in the England squad for the past 12 months.

The former Villa star said: “It’s been coming. All the Villa fans have been shouting for Konsa. He’s outstanding, he’s quick for starters, he’s strong and good in the air.

“But he’s also really good at coming out with the ball, his passing is top, he’s good at passing to strikers. For me, he’s better than Tomori, he’s better than Guehi.”

Konsa can make Villa fans proud with England showcas

Recently winning praise from the likes of Dean Smith and Alan Shearer, it’s safe to say that there’s real excitement in the air over Konsa’s England call-up.

And the 26-year-old defender will want to make Villa supporters proud by turning up for the Three Lions, something Ollie Watkins has already managed during his time with the national team.

Indeed, Konsa’s quality is clear for all to see, and the defender will want to impress everybody in this November international break if given the chance by Southgate.

Moreover, given the opposition England are facing, now is the perfect window for Konsa to make a real claim for himself in the squad, with the defender no doubt eyeing a spot at Euro 2024.
