Tottenham are to pay $50-70m for them to sign their summer target in january

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly in recent months.

The North London outfit reportedly tried to sign him during the summer transfer window, but the Cherries were not keen on selling him late on in the transfer window as they would struggle to bring in quality replacements.

It seems that the player could be on the move when the transfer window reopens in January.

A report from Football Insider claims that an offer of around £25-30 million could be enough to sign the versatile defender.

Tottenham signed Micky van de Ven and Ashley Phillips during the summer transfer window and they will need to sign another quality defender in the coming months. Eric Dier has been linked with a move away from the club and Spurs will have to replace him adequately.

Having a versatile defender like Kelly could prove to be very useful for Ange Postecoglou. The 25-year-old central defender can operate as the left back as well. He is tactically flexible enough to operate in a back three as well as a back four.

For the reported asking price, Kelly could prove to be a useful addition and there is no doubt that the defender has the potential to justify the investment as well.

Spurs might face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.
