Sources: Aston Villa star Jhon Duran is ‘handful’ for Emery behind the scenes as Bodymoor Heath fall-out revealed

Aston Villa striker John Duran is causing trouble for manager Unai Emery behind the scenes, sources have told Football Insider.
The £17m striker is said to be the ‘handle’ for Emery and his coaching staff.

Duran’s attitude was questioned on several occasions by the manager at the club’s Bodymoor Heath training ground, and he was asked to make major improvements to meet the Spaniard’s pragmatic demands.

Emery is famous for his strict disciplinary standards and is not willing to lower them for any player on his team.
Duran has played just 68 minutes in the Premier League this season and has not featured in the top flight since September 30.
The majority of his action in the 2023-24 campaign has been in the Europa Conference League.

Duran was limited to 305 minutes in 12 appearances in all competitions, but still scored 4 goals.
The Colombia international was not included in the squad for the matches against Brazil and Paraguay, although he was in the squad for the internationals last month.

To date, he has made 8 appearances for his country, scoring 1 goal.
Duran joined Aston Villa as the first signing of the Emery era earlier this year, with the Midlands giants deciding to bring him to the Premier League following a successful spell with Chicago Fire in MLS.

He made 12 appearances in the English top flight last term without scoring.

The 19-year-old has been the undisputed backup for star man Ollie Watkins since arriving – with the England international already notching 10 goals in 18 appearances so far this term.
