Amid speculation surrounding Aston Villa’s £80,000-a-week superstar, the club’s manager provides a positive injury report

A positive injury report has been issued by Unai Emery as he talks about Matty Cash, Alex Moreno’s return and Jacob Ramsey’s return.

Aston Villa fans had their doubts about Matty Cash’s fitness ahead of Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest.

Cash was taken off against his former club after suffering an injury. Now, four days later, it’s AZ’s turn to visit Villa Park.

It’s no secret that rotation has been the order of the day so far in European competition this season, and it may well be time to give some stars a rest.

But it’s safe to say that fans will not want any further setbacks to add to an already long list of injuries.

Unai Emery’s injury update:

Speaking ahead of the match against AZ, the manager gave some encouraging injury news for some of his key players.

In addition to Mings and Buendia, who are almost certain to be out for the season, no one has talked about Alex Moreno and Jacob Ramsey, who have both been out for the season (Ramsey has made one substitute appearance this season).

Arsenal manager Emery told the Birmingham Mail that Alex Moreno is “very close” to returning to action.

“Alex Moreno is very close to returning to action,” said Emery. “He’s feeling very well.”

Emery added that Jacob Ramsey “should be ready to go” once the international break is over.

Another player to keep an eye on is Cash, who has been the subject of a lot of speculation in recent days following his substitute appearance against Forest earlier this week.

Emery continued to talk about injuries, adding a little more detail on the right back: “He didn’t have a major issue, just a minor one.”

I’m glad to hear that he’ll be available for the match against AZ, or worse, for Fulham against Villa Park.

The £80k a week star has had a good season and will miss him.

Having Cash back will be crucial for the Villain’s performance.

The other two coming back will be of interest to fans.

Moreno and Ramsey will be playing together down the left again.
