Spurs boss talks about ‘better position’ and ‘wildrawing Tottenham player’

The 22-year-old has been left out of Brazil’s squad for the international break, and the club has now revealed why.

Richarlison’s season looks set to be another challenging one, although it may not be as bad as last year.

He was in and out of form under Antonio Conte last season, scoring just three goals in total (Transfermarkt), and since Harry Kane’s departure this summer, he has been given more playing time.

The 22-year-old has scored twice so far this season (according to Transfermarkt), but he has been shifted to the left of the attack in the wake of the impressive form of Son, who has replaced him as the club’s top scorer.

He was a late substitute for Saturday’s match against Chelsea, but has since announced that he will have surgery on his pelvis (ESPN).

It comes as no surprise that Brazil have decided not to call up Spurs forward Richarlison for their upcoming matches with Colombia and Argentina, but we now have a definite answer from Brazil coach Fernando Diniz: “I think it’s more about the system than the player,” he said. “I think the players I’ve called up are better equipped to do what I expect them to do right now.”

Richarlison has been one of the best players in the world this season, and he played well in the World Cup. However, he has not been in his best form for the national team, and he is competing against other great players.

“I don’t know why they’ve called up Gabriel Jesus,” Diniz said, “but it makes sense to me. He’s not fully fit and he’s not playing well for the national team. I think he deserves to be called up.”
