Manchester United is considering four center backs for a 2024 transfer.

Manchester United currently has four names on their shortlist for a potential 2024 big signing in central defense.

The Red Devils are trying to bolster the position because first-choice center-backs Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are having trouble staying healthy and there are questions about players like Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans at the highest level.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated on his YouTube channel that there will be major moves in 2024, but it is unclear if one will happen in the summer or in January based on “opportunities and the budget.”

Four players are reportedly being scouted by United: Goncalo Inacio, Antonio Silva, Edmond Tapsoba, and Jean-Clair Todibo.

Inacio of Sporting has also been connected to Real Madrid, and it appears that he will make a significant move out of Portugal in the upcoming season.

The 22-year-old’s contract at Sporting includes a release clause worth €60 million (£52.3 million), so any club, including United, Real Madrid, or others, could jump for that sum in January or the summer.

Antonio Silva is an even younger Portuguese talent, with the 20-year-old breaking into the Benfica team last season and already winning six caps for his country. Silva signed a new contract with Benfica last year which runs until 2027 and the Athletic report has a release clause of £100m.

The floundering Premier League heavyweights are still interested in Todibo and Tapsoba, who were both mentioned in connection with a transfer to Old Trafford in past transfer windows.

Tapsoba, 24, would be a costly option because he only recently inked a new contract with Bayer Leverkusen in September.

Sport, a Spanish publication, revealed in the summer that Nice would take about €35–40 million (£50–90million) for France international Todibo, which would make him the least expensive option among the four if the Ligue 1 team continued to conduct business at that level.
