Caitlin Clark was glad her coach had her back.
The Fever rookie was visibly frustrated after she and Indiana head coach Christie Sides were both hit with technicals in a 103-88 blowout loss to the Storm on Thursday night.
“I feel like I’m getting hammered, I don’t know,” Clark said in a postgame press conference when a reporter asked about her and Seattle guard Victoria Vivians chirping at each other in the second quarter.
has got to be feeling good about where her Indiana Fever are at right now.
While the Fever are currently 5-10 on the season, they are 4-2 in their last six games and appear to be creating a ton of team chemistry.
There was always going to be a lot of pressure for Sides and the Fever this season, considering that they drafted former Iowa Hawkey.
Clark has a lot on her plate, as well. Not only is she expected to perform on the court, but the entire world is speculating on everything else she does or says.
And during Tuesday’s Fever practice, Sides noted that she had a personal conversation with her rookie pupil.
Fever beat reporter Matthew Byrne posted on X Tuesday, “Christie Sides and Caitlin Clark talked courtside for the last ~15 minutes before Sides talked to media,” along with a photo of Sides and Clark speaking privately.
When Byrte asked Sides what the two discussed, Sides said, “Oh, just basketball talk, life talk… catching up.”
