Hip-hop superstar Snoop Dogg is one of the true Los Angeles Lakers fans out there. Originally from Long Beach, California, Snoop has been supporting the Purple and Gold for as long as we can remember.
During his recent appearance on ‘The Stephen A. Smith Show,’ SAS asked the rapper if LeBron James had represented the Lakers well during his tenure in Hollywood, and Snoop responded with an affirmative answer.
“In the beginning, it was tough because the Clippers kept beating our a**, and Kawhi and them had the commercials, and they own the city. We had to listen to that sh** every year, but the Clippers still don’t have a ring, so nig*** still in the same spot y’all was in the last time we talked,” said Snoop.
According to Snoop, James’ tenure with the Purple and Gold has been tough because the moment he landed in L.A., the immediate expectation was to win an NBA title. That did not happen right away. When the Lakers finally won in 2020, the critics put an asterisk on it because it was a ‘bubble’ title.
Then, after LeBron led the Lakers to their 17th championship, the fans wanted more. Although the Purple and Gold have come up short every year since then, Snoop says that LBJ still delivered ‘other’ titles for the Lakers.
“And so he gives us the title, that he takes from Kareem – the scoring title. We can live with that. Then he gives us the little In-Season title. See, we’re taking all that sh** because everything matters,” he added.
