NBA Charge Mavs Kyrie Lrving $200k under suspension for breaking the NBA rules during clippers game… See More…

Kyrie Irving has just shared a major announcement related to his basketball-playing future.

Unfortunately for fans, though, it leaves the NBA world no closer to finding out if he’ll once again team up with Lakers superstar LeBron James.

Rather, Kyrie this weekend announced that he’ll be playing in the Drew League this Summer.

“I will be playing this year,” Irving said. “I hope you know that. It’s about time Uncle Drew came to the Drew.”

Fans of the Drew League are hoping that Irving’s comments this week actually come to fruition.

The Mavs’ guard was widely expected to participate in a Drew League game last year, only for his eventual absence to cause a stir in the basketball community.

“Sounded like [Kyrie playing] was going to be a sure bet, but I don’t know what happened,” Drew League commissioner Dino Smiley told ESPN last summer.

Established in 1973, the Drew League has become arguably the most impactful pro-am league in the world, with LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Paul George and several other of the NBA’s biggest stars having suited up for its games.
