Following the Boxing Day circulation of a picture of him on Instagram, Mitch Kenny provided an explanation on social media.
The Penrith hooker, who has won two premierships, has accused “trolls” of being behind the post that featured a picture of him and the words, “Couple Boxing Day lines have got me in troubleeee.”
The NRL have confirmed they are aware of the image, which was allegedly posted to his Instagram story yesterday.
In that image, which was also heavily circulated on social media, Holmes was pictured with a small bag of white powder.
“It is alleged Holmes engaged in conduct which has brought the game and his club into disrepute by publicly associating the game with illegal drugs,” the NRL noted in a statement before the North Queensland star was sanctioned.
