BAD NEWS: Joel Embiid to undergo…..

Joel Embiid, the MVP (most valuable player) of the Philadelphia 76ers and an All-Star center, will have knee surgery this week. As a result, the East starter may miss the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.

ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski said on X on Sunday that Embiid will “undergo a procedure this week to repair a left meniscus injury.”

“A recovery timeline is expected after procedure, but expectation is that he will miss an extended period of time,” Wojnarowski added.

Embiid hurt his left knee in last week’s loss to the Golden State Warriors.

The 29-year-old, who was among the Eastern Conference starters, is likely to miss the 73rd All-Star Game in Indianapolis on Feb. 18.

This season Embiid is the NBA’s leading scorer, averaging 35.3 points per game.
