The Pittsburgh Steelers legend sent a heartfelt message back to his former head coach.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey heard the words of his former head coach about regretting not making him a Super Bowl champion and sent a heartfelt message back.

During his season-ending press conference, head coach Mike Tomlin was asked about having urgency to win a Super Bowl for players like Cam Heyward. When he replied, he said that urgency is always there for his players, stating one of his biggest regrets is that Pouncey was never a World Champion.

“I think I always move in that urgency. You know, I think you can point to guys like that annually that are deserving of being champions, and you want them to have that taste. It’s probably one of my biggest regrets professionally is that Maurkice Pouncey, for example is not a world champion because that guy is,” Tomlin said. “And so, that is a motivating factor for me certainly, but continually it is.”

Pouncey heard the words of his former head coach and sent a message back on Instagram, reading, “Thank you Coach T means the world but Never regret it Coach You made me a champion at life I’m forever thankful!”

Pouncey finished his career with five All-Pro selections, nine Pro Bowl appearances and was selected to the 2010’s All-Decade Team. An expected Hall of Famer, the center never went on to win a Super Bowl but finished his career as one of the greatest offensive linemen in Steelers’ history.
