The Warriors center paid tribute to the team’s late assistant coach on social media.

The loss of Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic this past week was a devastating blow to both the Golden State Warriors and the NBA community as a whole. Milojevic passed away the next morning after suffering a heart attack on Tuesday while out with the players and personnel of the team. By all accounts, Milojevic had a good impact on a lot of people in the NBA. All this week, tributes have been pouring in on social media and in public, with Warriors center Kevon Looney becoming the most recent to do so.

Kevon Looney spoke to the late Warriors assistant coach on social media as a “coach, teacher, and brother.” “I couldn’t have asked for a better coach, teacher, and brother over the past few years,” Looney wrote. Meeting you and getting to know you was a blessing. I’ll carry on the information and insight you offered me, and I’ll always remember your legacy. RIP, Dejan.

Additionally, Looney shared other photos of himself with Dejan Milojevic on social media, one of which was taken in the locker room during the Warriors’ 2022 championship celebration. It has been said that Milojevic played a key role in helping the team’s frontcourt players, such as Looney.

Prior to the 2021–22 campaign, Milojevic became an assistant coach with the Warriors. Once Milojevic was hired, Looney rebounded for the first time in his career. After averaging just 3.6 rebounds in his first six years in the NBA, Looney has averaged 7.9 rebounds during the last three seasons.

In order to give the team more time to grieve the death of Milojevic, the Warriors and the NBA decided to postpone their next two games against the Utah Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks.
