What happened to the targets who didn’t end up moving to Anfield during Liverpool’s arguably largest-ever midfield revamp over the summer?

As the need for middle-field reinforcement grew more clear, the Reds appeared to be linked with every midfielder under the sun.

Prior to the deadline on September 1, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch entered the building, but there were many other candidates on the club’s radar the entire window.

Here is a quick overview of where each of Liverpool’s reported aims for the 2023–24 campaign ended up.

Jude Bellingham cost Real Madrid £88.5 million when he left Dortmund.
Mason Mount: Chelsea to Manchester United for $60,000

Even though the midfield market was active throughout the summer, there may still be a few names to keep an eye on for upcoming transfer windows.

During the summer, the Reds were extensively connected with a move for Andre, but getting him out of Fluminense while they were playing in the Copa Libertadores proved challenging, and a January transfer is still a possibility.

Another group of supporters, the Liverpool supporters, have enjoyed watching Moises Caicedo struggle in his first few games for Chelsea.

If the Reds had won that specific battle, it would have surely been a gamble whether he goes on to defend the British record fee.

Jude Bellingham was the player that fans had been hoping for all of 2022–2023, but the Reds ended their chase of him back in April, and he eventually signed with Real Madrid.

Are you satisfied with the situation we’re in?
