NEWS UPDATE: Following many violations, Damonte Kazee was suspended for the remainder of the season.

Due to this decision, Kazee will miss the Steelers’ last three games as they attempt to qualify for the playoffs.

Security After being suspended by the NFL for “repeated violations,” Damontae Kazee will not be allowed to play football for the balance of the current season.

NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan reportedly suspended the Pittsburgh Steelers player on Monday for the remainder of the season, which includes the playoffs, should the Steelers advance that far, according to NFL.com. Following Kazee’s knockout of Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. during the game on Saturday, December 16, in the second quarter, this decision was made. After Pittman dove to try to grab a football and was struck in the head and neck region by the Steelers safety, Kazee administered a blow.

Runyan stated that Kazee’s frequent infractions of on-field health and safety regulations led to the imposition of the penalty.

“With 8:49 remaining in the (second) quarter, you were involved in a play that the (league) considers a serious violation of the playing rules,” the player received a letter stating as much. The play’s video demonstrates how you struck Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. violently when he was in a helpless stance in the head and neck area. The unlawful contact might have been prevented, and you had an open route to your opponent. Because of your egregious behavior, you were eliminated from the game.

“It is appropriate to impose substantially greater penalties when players repeatedly violate the rules intended to protect player safety, especially when the violations carry a significant risk of injury to an opposing player.”

Due to this decision, Kazee will miss the Steelers’ last three games as they attempt to qualify for the playoffs.

The seven-year veteran has been punished nearly half a dozen times this season alone, according to the Associated Press. What he loses from missing the games
