Steelers top player gives horrible explanation for….

Steelers fans were fed up with George Pickens’ lack of effort on a crucial play last week. And the wide receiver’s explanation will only make matters worse.

On Pittsburgh’s 30-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts last week, Pickens failed to block Colts quarterback Jaylon Jones on one of the worst block attempts you’ll ever see.

The play occurred early in the second quarter when Pittsburgh was inside the Colts’ 10-yard line early in the game. On the play, wide receiver Jaylen Warren caught a pass from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and appeared to have a clear path to the end zone.

As you can see in the video, Pickens didn’t even attempt to block Jones. Instead, Pickens simply gave up the block.

On Tuesday, Pickens was asked about the play and defended his decision. He said he was “trying to avoid getting hurt.”

I didn’t want Tank Dell to get hurt, too, Pickens said in an interview with ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “When you’re on the block for too long, it’s easy to get rolled up on. All those people that are questioning my effort don’t play football, they do what y’all in the media do.”

Pickens was referring to the Week 13 play in which Houston Texans receiver Tank Dell was rolled up near the goalline. Dell broke his fibula and is expected to be out for the rest of the season.
