After seeing his Liverpool team defeat Aston Villa 3-0 at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp exclaimed, “I could not imagine a better Sunday.”

The Reds manager also expressed his enthusiasm for Darwin Nunez, who made his first start of the season and contributed to two of the three goals.

The Reds took an early lead thanks to a well executed shot from Dominik Szoboszlai, but after 22 minutes, Matty Cash put the ball in his own net after Nunez had hit the post. Following a flick-on from an Andy Robertson corner, the Uruguayan forward helped Mohamed Salah score, and Klopp was pleased with how his two forwards worked together to defeat Unai Emery’s team.

With 10 points from 12 now, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s hamstring injury forced him off the field in the second half. Despite this potential setback, Klopp was pleased with the day’s play as his team moved up to third in the Premier League.

The team’s two sprinters are curious about one another’s whereabouts, according to Klopp. “I’m quite sure Mo told Darwin before the game to deflect the ball when it was high because he was riding his bike.

“The collaboration is excellent. I enjoyed the lineup today. It might be a challenge in my area of business to create lines before knowing what would work, but today it went very smoothly. I am also quite thrilled for Darwin.

“Perhaps we shouldn’t forget now since [the second] was an own goal or something, but the entire time it was like, ‘Oh my God! there is still a possibility

“Against this Aston Villa team, you can’t go one step less in either the offensive or defensive departments because then you suffer right away. But the early goal may have been beneficial.

“We looked good, but I don’t know how it would have looked without it. It felt like the balance between direction and control was almost perfect. Today, we could make good use of the formation. I can’t say otherwise, but it was a top game because everyone desired the ball and either promised to protect it or defend it.

“We didn’t let that happen today, and it is a huge compliment to my lads,” the coach said. “that was as good as it could be considering the opponent is incredibly strong.
