The massive numbers surrounding Mohamed Salah for Liverpool go beyond just his possible transfer fee.
A few days after Al-Ittihad made a £150 million offer, Liverpool turned down it. Salah scored in 150 consecutive Liverpool games. The Egyptian scored the 188th goal of a six-year tenure on Merseyside amid rumors of a £200 million deal. If the Saudi Arabian Pro-League club had its way, the spell would have ended last week. Even though the Saudi transfer window is still open, Liverpool sincerely hopes it doesn’t close this week.

Salah hardly displayed any signs of being preoccupied by the idea of being either the third most expensive player in history or the highest paid person in the world.

Instead, it was a usual act: he

For Liverpool, Dominik Szoboszlai scored his first goal. Darwin Nunez tried his best, yet he fell short. Nunez tends to be the focal point of every game he plays in, and this one was no different, although being completely different from his game-winning cameo at Newcastle. Because he is one of the least reliable players, the Uruguayan is among the most fascinating footballers.

Following a decisive brace at St. James’ Park, he missed opportunities that may have given him a hat-trick and Salah a hat-trick of assists. At least twice, the striker struck the woodwork, the first of which resulted in Matty Cash’s own goal. He demonstrated the courage to sneak up behind defenses that was so successful at Newcastle and provided proof of a working relationship with Salah.

Nunez had an open goal, but he headed wide when the Egyptian produced a cross with the outside of his left foot. With a brilliant chip from a Salah pass, he had also struck the post. Nunez made a shot, and the ball went in in an accidental, almost funny manner: After Salah discovered him, the striker fired a shot.

Within 20 minutes, Unai Emery’s intentions had changed: Leon Bailey, an attacker, took the place of injured center-back Diego Carlos. The strategy failed as Villa promptly let up a second goal and the substitute was replaced himself 45 minutes later. He vanished into the tunnel. He had been present on the field long enough to witness Salah’s goal. Such spectacles won’t be confined to the past if Liverpool gets its wish.
