Tennessee top Veteran cornerback enters transfer portal.

On Thursday, veteran cornerback Warren Burrell, a native of Suwanee, Ga., entered the Tennessee transfer portal. Burrell stands at 6-0, weighs 180 pounds, and is a redshirt senior. Burrell has been with the Tennessee football team for many years, but recently has not seen much action on the defensive end. He was a full-time starter in 2021 and spent the entire 2022 season in that role. Burrell started a few games in 2022 before suffering an early-season season-ending injury that allowed him to receive a medical redshirt this season. Burrell, a North Gwinnett, Ga., native, did not see much playing time this season as he was moved down the depth chart.

Burrell was added to the 2024 watch list for the Senior Bowl earlier in the pre-season. He started 22 games for the Vols in his four-year career, totaling 89 tackles, 9 passes broken up, one interception, and one fumble recovery.

Burrell is a 22-year old corner who earned his bachelor’s degree in communication in December 2022. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in agri-preneurial leadership, education and communications.

He is a recipient of both the Mack Dove athletic scholarship and the sendele family endowment scholarship.

All things considered, this transfer comes at a time when Tennessee is loaded with defensive backs, both from the portal and from recruiting sources. Burrell has given everything he can to the coaching staff, teammates and fans of the Vols.

Let’s see which team takes advantage of this talented redshirt freshman.
