Mailbag: we ain’t longer excited to see more of Prescott in the offense-fans cried out.

Dak Prescott, as a rookie, was willing to run and move more to create offense. Could Monday night’s win mean we’ll see more of this from him? Or will we just see a more “run-willing” Dak when it’s absolutely necessary? Why do you think that is? – Thomas Narro / Arlington, MANick Harris: On Monday, offensive coordinator Brian Shottenheimer said that they used more of Dak’s legs on Monday night than usual, and I anticipate this offense going back to “normal” out if we have a bye week. Obviously, keeping Dak healthy becomes more important as the season progresses, and him running less is a big factor, but it would be a mistake not to ignite the fire that he ignited on Monday with his legs.

Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott did not hesitate to run and move more to create offense in Monday night’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Do you think we’ll see more of this from him in the future, or do you think we’ll only see a more run-oriented Dak when it’s absolutely necessary? Why? – Thomas Narro / Arlington, MA

I think he was much more relaxed in the game against the Chargers. He played much better off the script. His 18-yard TD run was a read option, and he kept the ball on the ground to deceive not only the Chargers’ tackling on the fake but the radio announcers as well. Other runs were more scrambles. Good that he’s willing to run, bad that he has to run on called passing plays that are gone array. You don’t want to expose him to too much contact, especially when he’s been sacked five times and hit six times. You also don’t want to give him the element of surprise by calling too many designed running plays.
