In response to the most recent Mohamed Salah transfer scenario, Jamie Carragher discussed how a deal might have been completed earlier in the transfer window.

After securing a £40 million transfer for Fabinho earlier in the window, Al-Ittihad tried to sign another Liverpool player.

For Liverpool, the only significant news on transfer deadline day has been their pursuit of Ryan Gravenberch, a young player for Bayern Munich.

Fans have had to worry about the Saudi club perhaps signing another star player from European soccer. After all, in summer alone, Al-Ittihad has already signed Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.

If the Saudi club had made the same offer a month or more earlier, according to Carragher, the deal might have come down to a “toss of a coin.”

“For Liverpool to sell right now, they’re going to want well more than that. They won’t just want what he’s worth.” On Friday Night Football, he revealed it to Gary Neville.

“Would he be worth £150 million if the Saudi Arabian scenario didn’t exist right now? Of course he wouldn’t, but the amount is probably close to £100 million; yet, why have they waited so long?

“If they were willing to spend that much money and if they really wanted him, why didn’t they make an offer six weeks or a month ago? He would have definitely had a good chance of going.

“If that amount keeps increasing, there comes a point where you realize you can’t possibly refuse it.

When asked if he believed the motion would go forward, he responded, “I don’t think it will, because it’s come so late. If it arrived six weeks ago, I believe it

Then he jokingly said that £200 million would be the price he would take, and some sources indicate that the Saudi club will keep looking.

According to one source, they are willing to spend up to £200 million, and if that is the case, who knows what would happen then.

The problem for Liverpool is that the Saudi Pro League’s deadline for player registration is September 7, which is obviously after the local deadline. If they were to make an offer that was thought to be too good to be true, they would not be able to find a replacement until the January transfer window.
