The Aston Villa midfielder has been diagnosed with a minor ankle injury and is now set to face Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite reports to the contrary, John McGinn limped off in the Scotland-Norway match at Hampden and is now a doubt for Saturday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Villa fans will be anxiously awaiting the return of their star playmaker John McGinn after he limped off during Scotland’s 3-3 draw with Norway in their Euro qualifiers on Sunday night.

With Scotland captain McGinn again on target with a goal and an assist for striker Stuart Armstrong, the game finished at 3-3.

It is anticipated that he will be involved in the team’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur this week, although it is yet to be seen how he will be physically.

However, he was able to address the press after the match. He told Birminghammail.co.uk: “The campaign has been fantastic and I’m really proud of the team and the players. The country is really proud of them and I think it showed in the final result. I think the fans were a bit surprised that we made it through, it was a weird atmosphere, but hopefully we’ll get used to it.

Tottenham will be looking to bounce back after losing their last two games when they host Aston Villa at home on Saturday.

The Lilywhites are also without James Maddison and Mike van de Ven through injury, but will welcome back Destiny Udogie after serving a one-game ban following his sending-off at Chelsea.

The visitors will also be without the yellow-card-wearing Bissouma, who will miss the game.
