Aston Villa are reportedly keeping an eye on a highly-rated young player who has been the subject of transfer interest from Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s been reported that Motherwell youngster Lennon Miller is being tracked by Premier League giants Aston Villa. He’s only just turned 17 and made his first-team debut last August at the age of 16. He’s since featured in 14 games across all competitions before breaking his patella this month.

It has been reported by teamTALK that Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Brighton and Brentford, as well as West Ham, had “regularly monitored” Miller prior to his injury. He is considered to be one of the brightest young talents in the footballing world and has been linked with a move to both Scottish clubs, namely Celtic and Rangers.

Following one of Miller’s senior debuts against the Australian coach’s former club Celtic, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has maintained his interest in the player.

Miller has achieved a significant milestone in his career, having made his international debut and playing four times for Scotland’s under-19s. The 21-year-old has recently signed a 1-year contract with Motherwell, with the option to extend his stay into 2026. Kettlewell was pleased with Miller’s progress, stating: “He has achieved a number of significant milestones in his career, but having the assurance that his future is here provides him with a great deal of peace of mind. It is easy for players to achieve 13 starts at such a young age in today’s game and to think that the next stage could be even greater.”

It is essential that Lennon is provided with an environment conducive to his growth and development, and I am confident that he can serve as a role model for other young players in the modern game who are eager for their next opportunity. When a player does well, it creates a positive atmosphere within the football club, and I am eager to witness Lennon’s return to the field.
