Aston Villa received major injury support from their star when the update was released

Alex Moreno has returned to action for Aston Villa’s Under-21 team as he looks to return to full fitness.

The defender injured his hamstring in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield last May and has not played for Unai Emery’s side since.
Moreno missed the entire pre-season as he intensified his rehabilitation, before finally returning to the squad in September.

He was an unused substitute against Crystal Palace and then Legia Warsaw, but missed the next trip to Chelsea.
Emery said Moreno did not feel 100% comfortable playing and was therefore left out of the squad, but has not been named since.

But now he looks to be on the way back after posting an update on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Minutes for the legs..!” He said.

The left-back played 63 minutes in Villa U21’s 4-3 win over Swansea City in the Premier League Cup.

It was previously reported that Moreno had suffered a defeat.
Before Villa’s victory over West Ham on October 22, Emery said: “We are patient with them because they are progressing very well.
The last step they haven’t done is getting ready to play two or three weeks ago.

Moreno has been training with us but he hasn’t taken the final step to be 100% ready to compete and feel comfortable.

We stopped him.
“Now he will need time, not much because at the moment he is progressing well, not only ready to train with us but also able to play official matches.
