Alabama defensive back Malachi Moore left Saturday’s game against Wisconsin with an injury. Moore helped tackle Wisconsin running back Cade Yacamelli on second-and-goal from the Alabama 2 in the third quarter.

However, he stayed down on the field for several moments after the play. He was eventually helped off the field.

FOX sideline reporter Jenny Taft provided an update on Moore later in the game.

“Malachi Moore, that leader on the defense, also done for the day,” Taft said. “They were evaluating his upper extremities. “

The senior is a captain for Alabama who started all 13 games last season. He had 52 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 5 pass breakups and an interception in 2023.

Before leaving the game against Wisconsin, Moore had 7 tackles and forced a fumble.

Moore was one of several Alabama players to get banged up during the matchup against Wisconsin.

During the second quarter, Qua Russaw went down with an injury. The Alabama linebacker appeared to get rolled up on with 48 seconds left and didn’t put weight on his left leg on his way to the sideline.

Russaw had two tackles at the time of his departure, and he entered Saturday’s game with six total on the young season. The Alabama defense stood strong through the first half, holding Wisconsin to just three points heading into halftime.

Alabama held a 14-3 lead when Russaw left the game and got the ball back after Wisconsin missed a field goal.

It didn’t take long for Jalen Milroe and the offense to extend the advantage, though. The Crimson Tide took just two plays to go 73 yards and make it a 21-3 ballgame entering the break.

Wisconsin also suffered a big injury on the opening drive. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke went down with a knee injury and almost immediately headed to the locker room. He was ruled out at halftime.

In addition, Alabama running back Richard Young is also banged up. The redshirt freshman left early in the fourth quarter and favored his right leg, according to BOL’s Charlie Potter.

Taft provided an update on Russaw and Young, too.

“There have been a couple injuries for Alabama I wanted to update you on, Gus,” Taft said. “Running back Richard Young, who we just saw leave the field and go into the tent, he is done for the day with a lower-body injury.

Malachi Moore, the leader on the defense, also done for the day. They were evaluating his upper extremities. And Qua Russaw has been out for a while. He will not return, as well.”
