BREAKING; lands commitment from Top-150 recruit Chamberlain Burgess from BYU….
4-Star Big Chamberlain Burgess Commits to Kentucky basketball
Kevin Young got the 2025 recruiting class of to a start as 2025 4-star frontcourt player Chamberlain Burgess announced his commitment to BYU.
“He’s choosing BYU over Illinois because of the relationship he has with the coaching staff and the fit he sees with style of play. He loves what Kevin Young is doing so far and the culture he is establishing there.”
Burgess committed to BYU after visiting BYU over the weekend. Illinois was his other finalist. A consensus top 150 player in the class, Burgess is rated 4 stars by 247 Sports and ESPN. His dad Josh and mom Ashleigh both played basketball for BYU. His uncle Chris Burgess is a current BYU assistant.
On the court, Burgess can play either the 4 or 5 with his long and athletic frame. He can protect the rim, space the floor, and is a good passer. He will need to add some weight to compete at the high-major level, but he has plenty of time to do that, especially with his mission. He’s not quite as tall as former Utah big man Branden Carlson, but I see a lot of similarities between the two with their ability to stretch and run the floor.
Chamberlain has told me he plans to serve a LDS mission before enrolling in school, meaning he would join a program in 2027.
