AZ Alkmaar releases statement after UEFA rejects appeal against Aston Villa Latest news on Aston Villa from BirminghamLive as Claret and Blues hope to take a big step forward in their League group qualifying round Europa Conference

AZ Alkmaar will be without striker Mayckel Lahdo for their Europa Conference League match against Aston Villa after UEFA confirmed his two-match suspension.
The 20-year-old Swedish player received a straight red card after a bad tackle in AZ’s controversial 1-0 win over Legia Warsaw.
The match ended in succession after unsightly scenes at the end, in which Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki requested “urgent diplomatic action”.

Amid all this, Lahdo almost lost, was sent off and banned from the next match in Group E, which saw Villa beat the Netherlands 4-1.
AZ appealed and hoped the suspension would be reduced to one match and he would be available tomorrow, but it was discovered earlier this week that UEFA had ruled against them.
They released a statement on their club website which read: “UEFA maintains the two-match suspension of Mayckel Lahdo.
The Football Association announced it.
The Swedish striker received a red card in the home match against Legia Warsaw (1-0) in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

As a result, Lahdo missed the home match against Aston Villa FC.
“AZ appealed the two-match ban but UEFA did not accept.
Lahdo will therefore also miss the away match against Aston Villa next Thursday in Birmingham

Lahdo was able to continue playing at domestic level and scored the equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Excelsior on Saturday, his fifth goal in 15 games so far this season.
As for Villa, beaten 2-0 by Nottingham Forest on Sunday, the team news got a bit better as Matty Cash was declared available for selection.
When asked about Cash’s availability, Unai Emery said: “He doesn’t have any big problems, it’s just a small one.
Talking about the rest of the squad, Emery said: ” Alex Moreno is about to start competing again because he feels great.

Jacob Ramsey will be available after the international break.
” Which team should Unai Emery pick to face AZ Alkmaar?
