GOOD NEWS: The Colts finally signs Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud for $70 million…

Whether you like or loathe Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, he certainly seems to have a high standard for what he considers success in football.

Stroud’s sensational rookie season ended on a sour note as his Texans fell to the Baltimore Ravens, 31-10. The offense failed to score a touchdown and were shut out in the second half.

Speaking to the media after the game, Stroud reflected on the season that was – a season that saw him lead the Texans to a division title after winning just 11 games in the last three years. Stroud said that he considers the season “a fail” because he’s learned since his days at Ohio State that if you don’t win it all, it’s simply not good enough.

“Where I come from in college, if you don’t win it all it’s a fail, so that’s the mindset I have,” Stroud said with no small amount of disappointment in his voice.

C.J. Stroud was far and away the best rookie quarterback in the 2023 NFL season. He finished the season with the league’s lowest interception rate, over 4,000 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and a league-leading 273.9 yards per game.

Stroud is considered the prohibitive favorite to win the NFL Rookie of the Year award.

But if his standard every year is title or bust, he won’t see this year as a good one.
