After negotiations broke down, sources say Aston Villa is prepared to accept a new offer from Dendoncker.

According to sources who spoke with Football Insider, Aston Villa is open to proposals for midfield player Leander Dendoncker during the January transfer window.

In the most recent summer transfer window, it is thought the 28-year-old was on the verge of agreeing to a deadline-day move to Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce.Aston Villa

But negotiations broke down due to inability to reach an agreement, so Dendoncker is still a player for Aston Villa.

As they look to find the Belgium international a new club in the January transfer window, the Midlands giants will consider both permanent and loan offers.

Under manager Unai Emery, he is a fringe member of the first team, and it is thought that the former star of the Wolves is not considered essential to the Spaniard’s future plans.

This season, Dendoncker has started two games in the Europa Conference League and League Cup, but he was substituted out at the half in both contests.

In his seven appearances this season across all competitions, he has accumulated 115 minutes of play time.

The versatile star’s Villa Park contract, which pays him an estimated £90,000 per week, is not expected to end until June 2027.

Dendoncker became a permanent member of Aston Villa in September 2022, but he has only played in 28 games for the Midlands powerhouse, accruing 889 minutes of playing time.Aston Villa

The former Wolves player, who reportedly paid about £13 million, is capable of playing central midfield, defensive midfield, and center back.

In Emery’s hierarchy, people like Youri Tielemans, Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn, and Douglas Luiz are all higher than the 28-year-old.

After winning seven of their first ten games this season, Aston Villa is currently ranked fifth in the Premier League.

Their next game is on Sunday, November 5, against Nottingham Forest.
