Jaxson Hayes has decided to exercise his $2.4 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2024-25 season.
Los Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes has decided to exercise his $2.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season, following in the footsteps of D’Angelo Russell, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
After spending his first four NBA seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, Hayes joined the Lakers last summer in free agency.
During the past season, the 24-year-old averaged 4.3 points and 3.0 rebounds across 70 games, starting 5 times, and playing an average of 12.5 minutes per game.
Hayes was originally selected eighth overall in the 2019 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks.
However, he was traded, along with Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Didi Louzada, and a heavily protected 2020 first-round pick, to the Pelicans in exchange for De’Andre Hunter and Solomon Hill’s draft rights.
